Breakside Brewery has three Portland locations, 13 around the US and many award-winning beers, so we shouldn’t be too surprised that they plan to make 140+ different beers in 2018, right?
Wrong.
That’s SO MUCH BEER! We are shocked (and excited) to hear this news. They are planning on releasing a new series of wood-aged sour beers in 500-ml bottles, aged for over a year, to accommodate the sour beer trend that has hit the states in the past few years. Three of their already award-winning sour beers include: Homunculus, Dog & Pony Show and Portmanteau.
Along with this, multiple beers will be available to purchase in a six-pack for the first time – one of our personal favorites, the Breakside IPA, will be among that list!

The downtown Blue Star Donuts is moving to a bigger building just a few blocks away from their SW Washington location! Their new spot is roughly 5,000 SF, has a large open-air commissary kitchen and a new area where you can watch head pastry chef Stephanie Thornton come up with new donuts, coined the “chef’s counter”.
The new location will carry all of the same full selection of brioche, buttermilk, and vegan cake donuts, along with some specialty Portland-only donuts. Owner and CEO Katie Poppe expresses her excitement in finally having a headquarters for Blue Star, “This gorgeous location is finally enough room to pursue our long-term dream of having a Blue Star “World Headquarters!” The original SW 13th location will always have a special place in our hearts for being such a great launching point, but we’ve simply outgrown it. It’s incredible that we found the perfect new home right down the street! Our production process is very exciting, and the goal has always been to build the beautiful, efficient stage that it truly deserves, and share it with as many people as possible.” – PDX Food Press
