Neighborhood Description: Bordered by, SW Taylor Street to the north, SW Harrison Street to the south, Naito Parkway to the east and SW 5th Avenue to the west, the Business / Government District is home to the largest downtown employers including several Government city, county and federal properties and The Standard Insurance company. Overlooking the Tom McCall Waterfront Park, the World Trade Center offers over 25,000 SF of flexible exhibit space for premier events and conventions. Transportation: Due to the current construction on Naito Parkway, the main thoroughfares for this district are: Jefferson Street (one way west bound), Columbia Street (one way east bound), 3rd Avenue (one way south bound) and 4th Avenue (one way north bound). Traffic is heavy on these streets during weekday business hours. With the current housing developments in this area, weekend traffic will also pick up in the next few years. Due to the close proximity of businesses, retail, parks and restaurants, foot and bicycle traffic is also heavy on weekdays. I-5, I-405, and US 26 are easily accessible from this area, as well as crossing the Willamette River to the eastside of town via the Hawthorne Bridge. Tri-Met bus and the Streetcar line serve this neighborhood.
