Alberta Street

Bicycle Mural

Neighborhood Description: The dramatic revitalization of Northeast Alberta Street, culminating over the last decade, provides a perfect example of a Portland neighborhood retail district at its best. Known as the Alberta Arts district, this commercial hub runs between NE 9th and 33rd Avenues and parallel to NE Killingsworth Street to the North and NE Fremont Street to the South. A thoroughfare with numerous restaurants and cafes, Alberta Street provides a destination for a demographic far beyond neighborhood dwellers. Lined with restaurants, cafes and shops offering local designer clothing, crafts, gifts, and a multitude of art galleries, Alberta Street also hosts the tremendously successful Last Thursday monthly event, as well as the annual Alberta Arts Fair. This district marries the funky, creative origins of its revival with the more urban recent-comers to the neighborhood.
