Neighborhood Description: Old Town/Chinatown has undergone it's own evolution in recent years, playing host to Portland’s emerging creative business community, including Motel Gallery and Backspace Video Arcade and Gallery. Lower rents have made this area attractive to galleries and other local retail businesses who cannot afford the rents in the Pearl, Nob Hill or Uptown, but want to be close in proximity. A strong late-night bar scene has emerged in recent years with McFadden’s Roseland, Tube and Dixie Tavern, among others. This area features some of Portland’s most authentic dim sum and traditional cuisine at an assortment of authentic Asian restaurants that have been in the neighborhood for years, such as Fong Chong Restaurant. Cultural organizations such as the Classical Chinese Gardens, Oregon Jewish Museum, the Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center, the Oregon Maritime Center & Museum, the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association and the Old Town History Project can be found in the neighborhood. These organizations help draw locals and visitors to the area. Saturday Market is located is another attraction that draw vistors to this neighborhood during most months, and can be located under the Burnside Bridge on NW 1st. Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) Portland Development Commission (PDC) and NW Natural Gas are three of the neighborhood’s main employers. Old Town China Town is located in the Downtown Waterfront Urban Renewal area.

Union Rail Station providing Amtrak service is located on NW 6th Avenue at the north end of the district, adjacent to the Portland Greyhound bus station.
