Neighborhood Description: Situated in close-in Southeast Portland, this neighborhood is famous for its’ “antique row” as well as local and regional retailers and restaurants. Tree-lined streets contain many restored Victorian and colonial homes housing primarily young families and professionals. Just north of the Sellwood antique district, surrounding the intersection of SE Milwaukie Avenue and SE Bybee Boulevard, you'll find some of the City’s most notable local specialty restaurants and boutiques. Reed College is located 1 mile east, crossing over 99E (McLoughlin Boulevard), into the affluent Eastmoreland neighborhood. With the redevelopment of several small storefront buildings, local independent retail has continued south on SE Milwaukie to the established Garthwick and Waverly neighborhoods. Nearby, downtown Milwaukie is undergoing it's own early stages of revitalization and will likely see the benefits of the adjacent prospering Moreland business district. Affordable rental rates and a stable tight-knit community keep this neighborhood retail balanced and expanding.
