Slabtown Marketplace and LL Hawkins bring together the adaptive reuse of an existing warehouse building and a newly constructed LEED Gold apartment building on one northwest Portland block. This initial development in one of the city's most anticipated neighborhoods, Slabtown, is anchored by a 28,000 square foot New Seasons Market which opened in November of 2015. Other retailers include Besaw's, Breakside Brewery, The Solo Club & Please Louise Pizza.
The site is ideally located at the north end of Portland’s popular Northwest Neighborhood District. A Master Plan for the area was recently adopted by the City of Portland that envisions a “20 minute”, sustainably designed, mixed-use neighborhood that includes housing, offices, local retail shops, restaurants, brewpubs, coffee shops, and public greenspaces. This new “Slabtown District” is named after the slabs of wood that used to be stacked in front of the old lumber mills that were historically located in this part of Portland, thus coining the term “Slabtown”.
Home to eclectic boutiques, national home furnishing retailers and all varieties of restaurants, the NW Portland neighborhood features a full array of retail and restaurant choices. From West Burnside to NW Vaughn, smart planning and strong neighborhood associations have helped shape the Northwest District as one of the premier neighborhood retail destinations on the West Coast.
